Peer Mentoring with The Radclyffe

On Friday November 21st, 9 Rose Bridge High School students travelled to The Radclyffe School in Oldham to participate in Peer Mentoring Training being delivered by their students . They had a fantastic morning and we hope to work with the Radclyffe School again in the future.

St Catharines Primary

On 20th November, Mr Chilvers and a group of Year 10 Art students supported St Catherine’s primary school Enrichment Day. Producing a large Matisse styled stain glass window with students in every Year group from Reception to Year 6. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and fantastic opportunity for our students to pass on skills and knowledge to the next generation of Rose Bridge students. We would like to thank St Catharine’s for inviting us to take part and the work will be on show in the reception of the school in the very near future.

Academy Status

Following the period of consultation, and having reviewed all the feedback, the Governing Body are delighted to announce the school will convert to an Academy. Again, following the feedback, the decision has been made to rebrand the school to Rose Bridge Academy with the values Respect, Believe, Achieve.

The date for conversion has not yet been finalised but could be as early as the start of the new year. We hope you agree that this is an exciting opportunity and join us in embracing the change.

The Brick

Young people are taking action against homelessness in Wigan Borough by joining forces with The Brick.

The charity, which works to support people in crisis, has created a new focus group called Building Blocks, aimed at young people aged between 16 and 25. Its remit is straightforward — to raise awareness about the issues facing young people in the borough and to help prevent them from becoming homeless.

Bitesize Day

Yesterday was another excellent day with our Year 9 students working with Brook staff on a "Bitesize Day". Students completed activities covering a range of topics which included Consent, the Law and Contraception.

Homeless Project

This week Year 9 Performing Arts students took part in a workshop which had an SMSC focus. Drama pupils explored the theme of Homelessness, looking at real life case studies and looking at attitudes towards the homeless. This is in conjunction with The Brick Project in Wigan which helps to facilitate and support people in need. They offer a variety of help and advice as well as a food bank to support those in need. Here at Rose Bridge High School we have an amazing group of volunteers who are working closely with The Brick. A short film is being made and will be shown to all year groups in assembly at a later date... Watch this space!
