Work Experience with Wigan Borough

Last Friday was the 11 Million Takeover Day. Young people across Wigan Borough got their first taste of the working world through work experience placements, 30 of them at the council. James O’Brien, from Rose Bridge High School joined the public relations team. He showed he had a flair for photography and was 'a dab hand' on social media. Looks like a bright future beckons for James in public relations.

Wigan Scouts

On Friday 28th November 2014 all year 9 students attended a 1 hour taster session from the Explorer Scouts. Activities included: Light the candle, fudge making, tower building, tight rope walking and creating paper rockets.

Students had a great time, developing communication and team work skills. The activities challenged the student’s problem solving skills, forcing them to communicate with one another to find the best possible solution. All students that took part thoroughly enjoyed their session and many enquired when the Rose Bridge High School would start the Explorer Scout group.

Mr Callaghan said “I would highly recommend the scouts to any school/organisation. They interacted with every single student. The day was fantastic and all the students had smiles on their faces from start to finish”.

Rose Bridge High School is hoping to have our very own Explorer Scouts unit running in 2015!
